Two weeks before Christmas universal credit put my account on hold I didn’t know what to do as it was food shopping week ..A mother of 5 children. I was recommended to Families in the Community by a friend …. Julie gave me a call explain I was entitled to claim emergency fund too which I didn’t know . Told me how to apply She then said she will look in the store cupboard to see what they have and get back to me …that same night she came with a man called Josh. We had food for 5 days …we were so grateful to you, it helped us… I did get the emergency and my credit was sorted. Thank you so much

Without Julie, Josh and Mavis Christmas wouldn’t have been as happy as it was, our family had suffered heartbreak after heartbreak in 2024 and mentally I was broken.Julie arrived with a boot full of goodies my my 3 Girls aged 21, 6 and 4 years old and myself, huge hampers filled with Christmas food goodies, an amazing family gift of a cinema gift card for £50 and lots of treats to take with us. My children was very happy to be able to give me some gifts that Julie had but in a hamper for me. The girls had so many lovely gifts all wrapped ready for them Christmas Day morning. Since Christmas they have helped me so much with monthly food parcels, fresh food parcels filled with eggs and veg and fruit, clothes for the girls and shoes, amazing dressing up outfits and not to forget the amazing electricals, my washer had broken and Julie text to say she had a washer and dishwasher for me, it is huge compared to my little 4kg broken washer, I can now do half the amount of loads as this one is a 9kg making my life a lot easier. I would have really really not have coped without the help I’m received, Julie even messages me during the month asking how I am, how the children are and that really does make a huge difference to have someone ask me how I am sometimes.
